Let me say it in a different way! Your firm is a Melbourne family law practice and you’re eagerly awaiting the time when your firm is #1 in Google for the search term, “Melbourne Family Lawyers”. So every other day you’re searching to see if there are any improvement and bingo, over time you’re seeing your firm climb the ladder dramatically. Joy killer! You’re really not!
Instead, Google is showing you your preferred search results higher in those search results. It’s called personalised search.
According to Google, personalised search gives them the ability to customize search results based on a user’s previous 180 days of search history, which is linked to an anonymous cookie in your browser. Simply put, this is how Google personalises results when you’re not signed in under a Google account. When you’re signed in, Google stores your Google web history and search is personalised even to a far greater extent.
How To Clean Your Results

The only definitive way to accurately define the keyword rankings for those search terms you’re targeting with your law firm’s SEO strategy is through a third-party application.
