In recent years, particularly influenced by a succession of Google algorithm updates, search engine optimisation, or SEO as it’s commonly referred to has changed dramatically. The Google Penguin update of April 2012 had catastrophic consequences on a number of businesses who unbeknown to them, had engaged SEO companies who were deploying somewhat underhanded tactics in getting phenomenal rankings for their clients. The net effect of all this was that there was this wash if you like, that coloured SEO not in the best light, despite there being a majority of SEO providers who had done and continue to do great work for their clients.
